Islamic Economic Perspectives on Green Technology and Environmental Sustainability: Implications for Human Well-Being and Sustainable Development

Abstrak

Global environmental challenges require green technology for long-term sustainability. Viewed through an Islamic economic lens, environmental stewardship is a religious obligation rooted in the principles of Tawhid (Divine Unity), Khilafah (stewardship), Amanah (trusteeship), and Maslahah (public welfare). This paper examines Islamic economic perspectives on green technology and environmental sustainability, exploring their implications for human well-being and sustainable development. Adopting a qualitative research design based on documentary analysis, the study systematically reviews literature across Islamic economics, environmental studies, and sustainability science. The findings indicate that Islamic economic principles strongly support sustainable resource utilization, renewable energy adoption, and socially responsible technological innovation. Furthermore, integrating Islamic values into green technology policy strengthens environmental protection, improves public health, reduces poverty, and contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The paper concludes that Islamic economics offers a comprehensive ethical framework for addressing contemporary ecological challenges while securing intergenerational equity, recommending its incorporation into environmental policies, educational curricula, and technology programs.
